FAQ’s
“Is The Nervous System Studio the same clinic as Healthy Living Massage?”
Yes. Nervous System Studio is the evolution of Healthy Living Massage, reflecting our shift toward nervous system focused care and Spinal Flow treatments
Is this treatment safe?
Yes. Both Spinal Flow and Spinal Torsion are gentle, non-invasive approaches designed to support nervous system function without forceful manipulation.
What conditions can this help with?
While we do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, nervous system–focused care may support individuals experiencing:
Stress/physical-related tension
Persistent pain or discomfort
Fatigue or burnout
Sleep and digestive disturbances
Difficulty regulating stress responses
Will this hurt?
Treatment is designed to remain within your nervous system’s comfort threshold. Sensations are typically mild and well tolerated. No force is applied.
How many sessions will I need?
The nervous system responds to consistent input over time. Some people notice changes quickly, while others benefit from ongoing care depending on their history and current stress load. Regular sessions enable your body to become more familiar with the techniques used, enhancing its responsiveness. This familiarity helps in reducing blockages and increasing communication throughout your system, promoting overall well-being.
Is this a massage or chiropractic adjustment?
Spinal torsion therapy is massage-based.
Spinal Flow uses light, precise touch.
Neither approach involves forceful spinal manipulation.
Can I combine this with other care?
Yes. Nervous system–focused therapies often complement medical, allied health, and wellness-based care.
How will I know it’s working?
Changes may be physical, emotional, or subtle at first — such as improved relaxation, sleep, or ease of movement — before larger shifts occur.
When the nervous system feels supported, the body often responds in ways people have been trying to achieve for years.
PHILOSOPHY
The Nervous System Studio
Our Philosophy
At The Nervous System Studio, we view the body as an intelligent, self-regulating system.
Rather than forcing change or chasing symptoms, our approach focuses on supporting the nervous system, allowing the body to restore balance at its own pace.
We believe sustainable wellbeing begins with regulation, safety, and clear communication between the brain and body.
Our Core Values
1. Regulation Before Resolution
The body cannot repair while it feels under threat or is under constant demand
We prioritise nervous system regulation as the foundation for all change. When the nervous system feels supported, other systems can begin to function more effectively.
2. Gentle, Evidence-Informed Care
Our work is grounded in nervous system science and respects the body’s physiological limits.
Care is:
Non-invasive
Low-force
Adapted to each individual’s capacity
This allows change without overwhelming the system.
3. The Spine as a Central Pathway
The spine is not simply a structural component — it is a primary neurological pathway.
By working with spinal tension, movement, and sensory input, we aim to support more efficient communication throughout the nervous system.
4. The Body Is Not Broken
Symptoms are not failures.
They are adaptive responses from a nervous system doing its best to protect the body. Our role is not to correct or override these responses, but to help the system update and reorganise when safety is restored.
5. Empowerment Through Understanding
We believe education is a form of care.
Understanding how the nervous system works can reduce fear, increase body awareness, and empower individuals to participate actively in their own healing process.
6. Consistency Over Intensity
Lasting change rarely comes from forceful intervention. Nervous system support is often cumulative. Consistency allows the system to build resilience, adaptability, and stability over time.
We value consistency, patience, and cumulative support — allowing the nervous system to build resilience and adaptability over time. We often ask our clients: "Are you willing to make the necessary changes in your life to allow your body the space to heal—even if it is inconvenient?" True healing requires dedication and a willingness to prioritise your health.
Our Commitment
At The Nervous System Studio, we are committed to:
Creating a calm, respectful clinical environment
Listening without judgement
Working within your nervous system’s capacity
Supporting your body’s inherent ability to regulate and heal
Many people arrive at The Nervous System Studio feeling:
Constantly tense, despite rest
Fatigued or overwhelmed without clear reason
Disconnected from their body
Stuck in recurring patterns of discomfort or stress
Often, they have tried to “push through,” manage symptoms, or ignore what their body is signalling.
There is a common underlying experience:
the body never fully switches off.
As nervous system–focused care begins, the emphasis shifts from fixing to supporting.
The nervous system is gently introduced to:
Safer sensory input
Reduced spinal tension
Clearer communication pathways
For some, this is the first time their body experiences a sustained sense of calm without effort.
Changes may be subtle at first — a deeper breath, improved sleep, or moments of ease — but they are meaningful.
This is not about becoming someone new.
It is about allowing the body to return to how it was designed to function.
When the nervous system feels safe, the body no longer has to protect itself in the same way.
