About
Welcome to The Nervous System Studio, we’ve evolved from Healthy Living Massage as the clinic shifted toward nervous system-based care and Spinal Flow treatments.
Located in East Perth, The Nervous System Studio welcomes clients from across the region, Including Perth, Mount Lawley, North Perth, West Perth and all surrounding suburbs.
My name is Kyle, and I’ve been working in the massage and bodywork space for over 17 years, servicing Perth and running my own practice and teaching a variety of techniques.
Over the years, while treating many people, I began to notice consistent patterns — areas of tension that were slow to release, or that would improve temporarily and then return before the next session. While some level of compensation between appointments is expected, the frequency and intensity of these recurring patterns has increased, particularly in recent years.
Through experience, further training, and ongoing research, it became clear that many of these unresolved patterns are not purely structural or muscular, but are rooted more deeply within the nervous system — the system that coordinates and influences all others.
This understanding shifted the way I work, leading me to focus less on force and correction, and more on supporting the body’s capacity to regulate, adapt, and repair itself from the inside out.
WHY I DO THIS
A Whole-Body, Nervous System Approach
Why the Nervous System
I do this work because the body is not a collection of separate parts.
The nervous system connects every system in the body — musculoskeletal, digestive, immune, hormonal, and emotional. It determines how these systems communicate, adapt, and recover.
When the nervous system is under constant demand, the body may struggle to heal no matter how many individual symptoms are addressed.
Beyond Symptom Chasing
Much of healthcare focuses on isolating and correcting one area at a time.
While this can be necessary, it often overlooks a key question:
What state is the nervous system in?
If the nervous system remains in protection mode, symptoms may shift or persist despite targeted treatment.
My approach is not about “fixing” one part of the body.
It is about supporting the system that coordinates the whole.
The Spine as a Gateway
The spine houses and protects the spinal cord — the central communication pathway between the brain and body.
By working with spinal tension, movement, and sensory input, we can influence how the nervous system receives and processes information.
This allows the body to:
Reduce unnecessary protective responses
Improve internal communication
Restore balance across multiple systems
Why Gentle Matters
The nervous system responds best to input it perceives as safe.
Forceful intervention can reinforce protection.
Gentle, precise input allows the system to reorganise without resistance.
This is why I work with approaches such as Spinal Flow and Spinal Torsion Therapy — methods that respect the body’s thresholds and innate intelligence.
My Approach
I am not here to override your body or rush outcomes. My work is grounded in nervous system regulation and the understanding that the body is always communicating .
I am here to:
Support regulation rather than suppression
Work with the whole system, not isolated symptoms
Create the conditions where healing can occur naturally
The body knows how to heal when the nervous system is supported.
WHO THIS IS FOR / WHO IT’S NOT FOR
This Approach May Be Right for You If:
You are seeking a whole-body approach, not just local symptom relief
You feel stuck in stress, overwhelm or fatigue
You have, digestive, hormonal or stress related symptoms
You are open to supporting long-term regulation rather than quick fixes
You struggle to fully relax or switch off
Spinal Flow, in particular, is suitable for people of all ages and stages of life and has no contraindications.
This Approach May Not Be the Right Fit If:
You are looking for aggressive or forceful manual techniques
You want a single-session solution without ongoing support
You prefer symptom suppression without addressing underlying regulation
You want treatment to push through pain
I believe healing works best when there’s alignment between practitioner, approach, and client.
A Reassuring Note
Nervous system care does not require you to be unwell, injured, or “broken.”
Many people begin this work simply because:
their body feels like it is carrying more than it should.
Supporting the nervous system is not about fixing what’s wrong — it’s about allowing the whole body to function as it was designed to.
